Signs your Peugeot needs looking at.

Most of these arrive as a message on the dashboard. All of them are cheaper dealt with when they first appear.

  • Oil pressure warning

On a 1.2 PureTech, belt debris can block the oil pickup. Stop and call us rather than driving on.

  • Hard brake pedal

The same debris can choke the brake vacuum pump on a PureTech, so the pedal goes firm and the car takes longer to stop.

  • AdBlue countdown

A message giving a number of miles before the engine will not start. It is usually the tank heater or pump, and it needs booking before the count ends.

  • Anti pollution fault

A general emissions warning that can be a sensor, the particulate filter or misfiring. We read the codes before quoting.

  • Jerky automatic

Hesitation or a thump between gears is often old gearbox oil or a software matter, not a failed box.

  • Diesel smell in the cabin

On older HDi engines a leaking injector seal lets exhaust escape at the top of the engine. It gets worse and harder to fix the longer it runs.

What a Peugeot needs.

Most Peugeots built in the last ten years share two engine families, and each has a habit worth knowing about. The servicing is where they are caught, which is why the oil grade and the inspection matter as much as the oil change itself.

Your Peugeot warranty and its service record.

Block exemption rules let an independent garage service a Peugeot under warranty, provided the schedule is followed and the parts are of matching quality. We work to both. Warranty repairs and recalls are paid for by Peugeot and still go to a dealer.

Peugeot keeps the service history online rather than in a book. We add every visit to that record and give you a written copy of what was done, so nothing is missing when the car is sold or part exchanged.

No. Block exemption rules keep the warranty intact at an independent garage as long as the Peugeot schedule is followed and the parts are of matching quality. Warranty repairs and recalls are paid for by Peugeot and still go to a dealer.

If it has the 1.2 PureTech petrol, yes. The belt runs in the engine oil, and as it wears it sheds material that can block the oil pickup and the brake vacuum pump. We check it at every service, use the oil grade it is specified for and replace it with its tensioner when it is worn or due.

The BlueHDi diesels use AdBlue to clean the exhaust, and a fault in the tank, pump or heater starts a countdown after which the engine will not restart. Book it in before the count runs out. We read the codes and tell you which part has failed before quoting.

Yes. We add each service to the car’s online maintenance record and give you a written copy, so the history is complete when the car is sold or part exchanged.
