Toyota servicing and repairs in Lowestoft.

Yaris, Corolla, C-HR, RAV4 and Aygo, hybrid or not, serviced to the Toyota schedule so the original warranty holds and the service record stays complete. Hybrid systems, seized brakes and older diesels looked after by an independent garage, for a fixed price agreed first.

  • Hybrids serviced by a team trained for them
  • Brakes stripped and greased, not just looked at
  • Your service record kept complete

Servicing a Toyota hybrid.

A hybrid Toyota is a very reliable car, and it still needs everything a normal car needs. What it asks for on top is attention to the parts it barely uses: brakes that rarely work hard and a small battery that starts the whole system.

Signs your Toyota needs looking at.

Toyotas go a long way between faults. When one appears it is usually one of these.

  • Will not switch on

A hybrid that shows lights but will not go to ready almost always has a flat 12 volt battery, not a failed hybrid system.

  • Brakes grinding or dragging

Seized rear calipers and slides are common on hybrids. Left alone they wear the pads and discs unevenly and can fail the MOT.

  • Hybrid system warning

Can be a cooling fault, a sensor or the hybrid battery itself. We read the codes and tell you which before quoting.

  • Engine knock on a 1.8 hybrid

On some Prius and Auris models a blocked exhaust gas cooler can cause a knock or misfire, which is worth looking at early.

  • Coolant going down

On a 2.2 D-4D diesel a falling level can be the head gasket. Find it before the engine overheats.

  • Fan noise from the back seat

A loud fan on a hybrid is the battery cooling fan working hard, often because its filter is blocked with dust or pet hair.

Your Toyota warranty and its extended cover.

Block exemption rules keep the warranty a Toyota is sold with intact at an independent garage, provided the schedule is followed and the parts are of matching quality. Warranty repairs and recalls are paid for by Toyota and still go to a dealer.

Toyota also offers extended cover, called Relax, which is renewed each time the car is serviced at a Toyota centre. The hybrid battery cover works in a similar way. Servicing here means giving those up. Ask us and we will go through what your car has before you decide.

Not the warranty the car was sold with. Block exemption rules keep it intact as long as the schedule is followed and the parts are of matching quality. Toyota also offers extended cover, called Relax, that is renewed only by a service at a Toyota centre, so check that before you book. Warranty repairs and recalls go to a dealer.

Yes. A hybrid Toyota needs the same oil, filters and inspection as any car, plus checks on the hybrid system, its cooling and the fault memory. Our team is trained for hybrid work, and we follow the Toyota schedule for your model and mileage.

Because the car slows itself with the electric motor much of the time, the brakes do far less work than on a normal car. Near the coast that lets the calipers and slides corrode. We strip, clean and grease them at the service so they keep working when you need them.

Yes. The 2.2 D-4D in older RAV4s and the Avensis is known for head gasket failure, so we keep a close eye on coolant level and condition. We service and repair the 2.0 D-4D as well.
